Conference Notes – Executive Board

At the conclusion of the 2015 conference at the Cradle of Aviation Museum and Nassau Community College, Patty Seaton now leaves the Executive Board as Past President.  Also, Alan Davenport completed his time as active President and now holds Patty’s former title.  In addition, Jerry Vinski now begins his term as MAPS President, and we welcome Kevin Williams to the Executive Board as MAPS President-Elect and Chair of the Program Committee.

NOTICE TO MAPS MEMBERSHIP: CONSTITUTION AMENDMENT

Update October 2013: Revision to the Constitution of the Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society

The amendment to the constitution was passed with unanimous vote adding 501(c)(6) to the constitution.

Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society Education Research Grant

The Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society is offering an Education Research Grant to financially support planetarians in conducting research on the use and impact of planetariums in education.

Who can apply: Any current MAPS member. Each member can only apply for one grant per grant cycle.

Application deadline: Rolling (Opens January 1st continues till funds exhausted or year-end)

Award dates: Notifications will be made privately to applicants within 6 weeks of submission and will be announced publically on the MAPS website.

Grant time period: 1 year from your notification; an additional 6 month extension can be requested in writing if needed.

Budget: Grant awards up to $2,500.00 and must follow these guidelines:

Amended By-Laws Now Available

The society by-laws, voted on and passed by the membership, are now available for viewing.

Changes to By-Laws for 2012 Election Ballot

Dear MAPS Members:

In the fall, 2011, The Strategic Planning Committee and the Constitution Review Committee recommended the following changes. This is being sent as a reminder that these issues will be placed on the ballot with Board of Directors elections in January of 2012.
