2017 Armand Spitz Regional Meeting – Indiana, PA – Travel Information

Indiana University of Pennsylvania, about an hour’s drive east-northeast of Pittsburgh, is a campus of the PA State System of Higher Education. It enrolls 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The planetarium is operated by the Geosciences Department, which has undergraduate programs in Geology and Earth and Space Science Education.

Pittsburgh airport is 75 miles (about 90 minutes) drive from campus. A small number of flights serve Latrobe airport 35 miles south of campus.

The nearest Amtrak station is in Johnstown, 25 miles southeast of Indiana.

We have not secured a block of hotel rooms for this one-day meeting. Below are some of the local hotel options, all within 2.5 miles of campus, with their current standard (refundable) nightly rate for Thursday, May 18:

The Mystic Seaport Museum is located in Mystic, Connecticut, a popular tourist destination situated halfway between the cities of Boston, MA and New York, NY.

Two airports provide travel to the Mystic, CT area. T.F. Green Airport (PVD) is located near Providence, RI and is about 45 minutes away from Mystic by car. Bradley International Airport (BDL) is located near Hartford, CT and is about one hour away from Mystic by car.

Mystic, CT is also conveniently located along the Amtrak train lines. There is an Amtrak station in Mystic, 2 minutes from the Seaport and 5 minutes from the lodging options listed below.

We have opted to not secure a block of hotel rooms for this meeting. However, with a wealth of hotel options in Mystic, we are allowing attendees to book the hotel of their choosing.
