AIR TRAVEL

Several airports provide travel to the New York metro area. The most ideal option is JFK
(John F. Kennedy International Airport), which is 45 minutes away from the Museum.

OTHER TRAVEL

From JFK Airport, options for traveling to the conference site are:

  • Renting a car
  • Taking a taxi/Lyft/Uber
  • Taking the AirTrain and the Long Island Railroad
    • AirTrain to Jamaica Station, then switch to the LIRR
    • The nearest LIRR station is Mineola, which is a stop on the Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma lines.
    • From the Mineola station, it is a short 15-minute cab/Lyft/Uber ride to the hotels.

Please note that, in general, Long Island does not have very much public transportation. If you plan to explore the area, it is strongly recommended that you have a car.

ACCOMMODATIONS

To provide options for conference attendees, a pair of room blocks have been secured at two different hotels in the area. Both hotel room blocks are valid between April 20-26, 2020.

CONFERENCE ATTIRE

In April, the Island typically sees temperatures in the low 60s during the day, dropping
down to the low-40s evening. Meeting spaces will be climate-controlled but temperatures can vary wildly throughout the Museum. Layers are recommended. Conference attire is generally workday or summer casual. Many choose semi-formal / coat-and-tie dress for the banquet on Friday night.
